Expansion of Land

  About this time the West Point Land Company was organized and investors quickly bought lots and laid out streets, hoping that a "large number of settlers would arrive and strengthen the town's economy." However, very few lots were sold, investors lost money and a financial cloud settled over West Point for several years.¹
